MARIE Bowen is the assistant dean and chief human resources officer at Harvard Law School.  

Bowen earned an AB cum laude from Harvard College with a concentration in English, and a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Bowen held a variety of positions before assuming her present position at Harvard.  She was an associate at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP, senior staff counsel at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, an employment attorney at Sallop & Weisman, PC, and director of human resources/employment counsel at the Massachusetts Port Authority.  Her duties there included managing a $2.5 million departmental budget and managing a staff of 15.

Bowen’s father is a native of Skibbereen, Co. Cork.  Her maternal grandmother hailed from Clifden, Co. Galway.
