As chairman and chief executive officer of McCann Worldwide, John Dooner has led the company in its transformation from the leading global advertising agency to one of the largest and fastest-growing integrated marketing communications organizations.

He has also been the chairman and CEO of McCann Worldgroup since 1997. The company was named “Agency of the Year” by several advertising publications in the U.S. and Europe under Dooner’s guidance.

Dooner entered the world of advertising with Interpublic’s Marschalk (now Lowe & Partners Worldwide) where he eventually was named Executive Vice President and Director of Account Management.

Dooner joined McCann in 1984 as a Worldwide Account Director and rose through the ranks with stints as General Manager and President of McCann North America before acquiring his current position.

The New York native is on the boards of the South Shore Medical Center and St. Thomas University, his alma mater. His philanthropic efforts are as worthy of praise as his climb through the corporate field.

He is a Charter Member of the President’s Advisory Council of CARE, a leading humanitarian group focused on eradicating poverty.

Also remaining in touch with his Irish roots, which can be traced back to Co. Clare, Dooner is a member of the Ireland Council of the University of Notre Dame.
