Sullivan, Eamon

The Australians

Australian swimmer Eamon Sullivan walked away from the Beijing Olympics with a haul of three medals.

The sprint swimmer won the silver in the 100 meter freestyle and the 4x100 meter medley as well as the bronze in the 4x100 freestyle.

Sullivan hails from Perth, Australia and first began swimming in an effort to ease his asthmatic symptoms as a child.

He is a pop icon in Australia and was for a time one half of Australia’s “golden couple” with fellow Aussie swimmer Stephanie Rice.

He is the current world record holder for the men’s 50 meter freestyle and 100 meter freestyle.
