Darren Sutherland brought home a bronze medal in the middleweight boxing division for Ireland.
The twenty-six year old son of an Irish mother from Finglas and a father from the Caribbean has won the All-Ireland title three times, in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
His Olympic medal win was his last amateur match as Sutherland recently signed a contract with London-based promoter Frank Maloney and dove into his professional career.
Sutherland’s fans have high hopes for his professional career, especially when his first-round knockout of Georgi Iliev in his first match back in Dublin set the tone for a promising future.
