Social networking site Facebook has established its new Dublin office and has appointed Colm Long as director of its online operations to lead its European operation here. Recruitment is beginning immediately for about 40 jobs across user operations, online operations, sales and advertising. The Dublin office, which Facebook first announced in October, will act as the company's European hub to support advertisers and users all over the region. "More than 70 percent of Facebook's users live outside of the United States. It is important for us to be able to provide those users and advertisers with service and support in their native languages and in their time zones across Europe," commented Long. "Dublin will play a leading role in our efforts across the region" he added. In October, the Depart-ment of Enterprise, Trade and Employment had said the Facebook decision to create a Dublin office would create 70 jobs.
