Ireland’s no frills airline Ryanair has hit turbulence after it was voted the worst in the world – and received just a one star rating.
Readers of Which? Magazine have voted Ryanair their least favorite carrier in a new poll.
The Irish airline finished 16th and last in the satisfaction stakes – with rival Aer Lingus in fourth and praised for its service.
Unhappy Ryanair passengers vented their fury on the Michael O’Leary led company by voting it bottom of the pile.
A press release from the magazine confirms that Ryanair landed last in the poll with an overall approval score of just 34 per cent.
The magazine said readers had a lot of reservations about the controversial budget airline.
Announcing the results, Which? Said: “We were inundated with comments about Ryanair, many about its extra charges.
“This partly accounts for the paltry one-star ratings for baggage allowance, boarding arrangements, seat allocation, and food and drinks.”
Swiss airline topped the poll in the short-haul category with an overall score of 82 per cent and a maximum five-star score in a number of the rating categories.
Turkish Airlines were second with German carrier Lufthansa and Aer Lingus fourth.
Ryanair was the least popular with passengers on a home-bound flight in the year to October.
Thomas Cook Airlines just edged ahead of Ryanair in 15th.
Outspoken Ryanair boss O’Leary has yet to comment on the results of the poll.

Ryannair ! Try competing with United's "Sardine Special" from Seattle to Chicago, or the "Pressed Ham" from San Francisco

How dare you ! United Airlines owns that title, and they are not going to surrender it to Ryannair

WHICH MAGAZINE IS RIGHT RYANAIR ARE TERRIBLE BUT THEY ONLY FLY TO THE UK AND EUROPE SO I WOULD HARDLY SAY THEY ARE THE WORST... I THINK AMERICAN AIRLINES ARE THE WORST AND ALSO AIR CANADA ARE A DISASTER.........

The answer is easy enough for anyone who doesn't like Ryanair. Just fly with someone else.

Its just a bus with wings lads, what more do you want. Just have a wee drink before you board one of these flying machines, take the edge off, it'll be grand

And yes, Silling, I did notice the blond pickpocket in the photo. Probably Ryanair ground staff "extracting" the last few Euro! :)

Yes but no frills should never include rude, obnoxious and insulting behavior which I have witnessed by Ryanair ground staff many times. I will never fly them again for that reason.

Ryanair does what it it says on the can; cheap and cheerless travel. Unfortunately, this attitude is refflected in Rynair's employees. I recognisee its limitations and use it as it is advertised; a no frills service.

Who is the blond pick-pocket in the photo ?

@Schlomo, Ryanair carry passengers from all over Europe not just Irish. Which? is a British based company.

The usual Irish verbal bully tactics. Complain about something but continue to support it because it's CHEAP. If people were really honest they'd boycott RyanAir and put it out of business. But that'll never happen.

. . . don't know why you persist in excoriating a service firm that serves its clientele that returns again and again to use its services: Perhaps Aer Lingus could learn a thing or two . . . or . . . more by agreeing to permit Ryanair to purchase them . . . .

People like to complain about Ryanair alot, but they still fly with them. The airline carries over 80 million passengers a year. I flew with them to Dublin last month and paid £36 return. No complaints.

I don't mind tolerating a few things if it means saving several hundred euro on a family (2 adults / 2 kids) flight. And I'm going to attend a function in Belgium in January and the final total return ticket price was €64 (including the insurance option)with Ryanair. So I appreciated the savings!

With a brilliant safety record and millions of passengers every year - nobody a Ryanair is losing any sleep over this unqualified 'Poll'.(So lets hear another bugle-blast for a Happy,0n-time and SAFE Landing!) Often for a fare that costs less than the cab to the Airport!. O'Leary should be running Ireland ... and America too, for that matter!
