Tragic little girl loses all her limbs

“We don’t know exactly when she will receive the prosthetic limbs, but when she is released from Boston she will learn how to use models and go from there,” Roarty said.

The cost is mounting for the Roarty family. Their home in Londonderry will need extensive modifications to accommodate a wheelchair.

Selena, who is also her primary insurance holder, must be by her side during the extensive rehabilitation process and therefore she will be unable to work (she is also a flight attendant with Jet Blue), causing the family to lose significant income.

Since her mother will be with her during this process, the family needs funds for daycare of their other children.  Lastly, she will be faced with medical challenges for the rest of her life.

Several fundraisers have been held in New Hampshire for Bella, and two have been organized for the New York area.

The first one is at Manhattan bar Blue Ruin, located on 538 Ninth Avenue, on Friday, June 18 from 8-11 p.m.

A second benefit if planned for Saturday, June 19 at the VFW in Lynbrook, Long Island from 7-11 p.m.

When Bella is in full recovery Roarty and his family plan to go to Ireland to visit the home of his parents.

“I go over there all the time, but Selena and I have been planning to bring the kids someday and my parents have a house there so we look forward to it,” said Roarty.

Donations can be made to the Bella Tucker Fund via the PayPal link or by mail to the Bella Tucker Fund, P.O. Box 199, Londonderry, New Hampshire 03053.

It’s so very hard to read a tragic report as this one about the wee princess, Bella Tucker, may God bless this child and her family. They will truly need the strength of our heavenly father to make it through all of the future challenges to come. Bella sounds like a strong young lady wanting to carry on as if nothing has happened. You read a report like this and realize, “I truly don’t have any problems in comparison! I wish the family all the best, and hope that all of us make donations towards this cause. Slan!
Whatever happened to that rule for doctor's, "First, do no harm"? How is amputating both arms and both legs doing "no harm"? It reminds me of that infamous quote from the Vietnam War, "We had to destroy the village in order to save it". If a child is born with no arms or legs it's one thing....but to deliberately amputate both arms and both legs simply to keep someone alive seems to me cruel and pointless.
OMG what an awful ordeal - very sad - poor kid. God bless her.

How did she get the meningitis? From an open cut?
Very sad. I hope she will have a full and happy life. May God keep her save.
I am sorry that no one plead the "Blood of Jesus" for a complete and swift healing of Bella's illness!!
It looks like her physicians failed to act quickly and vigorously enough, especially if they initially suspected meningitis. Poor child.
It is always sad for someone to lose their limbs but for an 8 year old its terrible. I hate reading about things like this and it was very difficult to read this as it broke my heart. I will be making a donation asap and I hopw more of you will follow. I think a nice gesture would be for Jet Blue to begin a fund raiser it would be nice.
very sad.
Brave little girl. I'd rather be dead.
This is why we support and donate to the Children's Miracle Network that helps these hospitals and children so much.
What a beautiful child. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.
my thoughts and prayers for this poor little girl
Bella is now a special project of the Blessed Mother. Not to worry.
