Three Irish women robbed at gunpoint in Chicago
Thugs brandished semi-automatic gun at women
WEEKS after an Irish women was robbed and beaten within inches of her life, three more women from Co. Dublin were robbed at gunpoint while on the way home from a night out in Chicago.
The three Irish women, who have not been named, were robbed at gunpoint and had their passports, money and other personal items stolen outside one of their residences on the border of Wicker Park and Bucktown.
It was in the Bucktown area of Chicago that Co. Tyrone native, Natasha McShane, 23, and her friend Stacy Jurich, were robbed and beaten with a baseball bat on April 23.
The three Irish women, all in their 20s and from Dublin, were approached by two women in their late 30s/early 40s, brandishing a semi-automatic weapon about 5.30 a.m. on Friday, June 18.
The alleged robbers initially walked past the women before turning and following behind them. One woman said, "Give me your s**t" and the other grabbed one of the women from behind, said Shakespeare District Captain Marc Buslik.
After the suspects displayed the handgun, the women turned over their property, including two handbags, a change purse, passports, a cell phone, digital camera and about $200 in cash, Buslik said.
No one was injured and no arrest has been made yet.
McShane, an exchange student from Northern Ireland, was critically injured in the April attack and placed in a medically induced coma. Part of her brain had to be removed by surgeons. She is making a slow recovery in a rehabilitation center in Chicago.
Heriberto Viramontes, 30, and Marcy Cruz, 25, have been charged in that attack.
