I have long condemned the extraordinary level of corruption in Irish politics and especially within Fianna Fail. This corruption goes back to the founding of the state and the founding of Fianna Fail shortly afterwards. Charles Haughey, while Taoiseach and before, operated what can only be described as a criminal enterprise. His protege, Bertie Ahern, learned well at the master's knee. To read Connolly's story - which is only the tip of the iceberg - is truly disheartening and debilitating, for nothing, nothing has changed. I have questioned in these pages whether we were really ready for self-government in the 1920s - though surprisingly Winston Churchill believed we were. Methinks he was overly optimistic.

O my, & they talk about "Foggy Botham" Cloak & Dagger stuff. This'll make a great movie some day. Gillmartin the "INFORMER" Then there's "Deep Truth" Can't write much about that- none left. Haughey: "Boss". Bertie: "Snakes Alive" Hollywood'll have a Ball, "After the Ball is Over" it's not over yet........More to come....(Sleazy Bastards).

Power Corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Many a Politician will go down in the same manner as Ahearn.. If they would share with the Poor more, it would be much more tolerable.

Connolly is the last person to be taking the high moral ground on anything. His own background and fellow travellers make Ahern look like a saint.

Who was the Garda Commissioner in 1989. What has he to say about this revelation.
While we keep ignoring these inept, irresponsible, politically appointed people, the rot will NEVER be eradicated.

Politicians we can get rid of, law enforcement officers we cannot.
Isn't it time the GARDA COMMISSIONER AND THOSE WHO WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR IGNORING GILMARTIN'S CLAIMS BE BROUGHT TO ACCOUNT. PUBLIC SERVANTS ? HARDLY !
WILL THIS EVER HAPPEN.?
