What a beautiful story! I wish John & Jean the very best! Jacersagain's story is nostalgic, albeit sad in its conclusion. However, as he was married when he saw her at the bus stop, maybe it was all for the better. I would love to see the girl I most admired, in 2nd Grade, in Catholic School. She is one of the 75 Most Influential Irish Women in America, who runs an advertising firm. Neither of us has ever been married. Like the girl jacersagain knew, she also left my neighborhood, when her family moved away, the last full week of 2nd Grade. Some crushes never expire!

Best wishes to John and Jean for a long, happy time together. When I was a teenager, I was madly in lurve with the most beautiful girl in the world... thin, blonde hair, blue eyes and the most charming unique smile ever I saw. Alas, her family left for England and we never saw each other again and I pined for her for a long time. But one day, many years after I was married, with growing children of my own, wasn’t I on a Dublin bus looking out the window when I saw her standing at a bus stop. I recognised her beautiful smile and blue eyes as she chatted with another woman. No longer thin but something like – wow! - 50 stone in weight! I couldn’t help but think in my wild imagination how lucky I was not to be under her then. Aaarrgh! The thought flattens me even now!

Hey, what a great story and you both look fabulous for your age. Have a wonderful marriage and a long one and I hope all your children are happy for you. Everyone needs a second chance at happiness and I hope you achieve it. I live in Australia, but married a Belfast man.
