From your comments mikemeboy & glorybe I take it that you are Protestants. If so you are not in the best position to advise Catholics on how their church should be ordered. The interpretation of the Bible & the role of the Holy Spirit in directing some of the Protestant churches has not been edifying - remember that Luther hated women & Jews & ordered the genocide of hundreds of thousands of German peasants because their more radical interpretation of the Bible did not agree with his. I too am disgusted by what some Catholic clergy have done to children but that does not justify the hate campaign directed against ALL catholic clergy, most of the campaign directed by the media, for reasons other than concern for the actual children involved - & that I also find disgusting. Police, teachers & nurses have also abused children - does that mean that ALL police, teachers & nurses do this evil thing ? No, of course not. Because some police, teachers & nurses have abused children does that mean that we should withdraw from the law, from education & from healthcare ? No, of course not. I feel sorry for all the innocent clergy out there - priests & religious, who have devoted their lives to their parishes & their congregations & who have not harmed a child but who because of this hate campaign are being subjected to abuse themselves.

I think that Sinead is "spot on" about Roman Catholics seizing control of THEIR church, firing the lot at the top of leadership of the RCC. Starting over with Jesus and the direction of the Holy Spirit as their guides. Only thing is the current leaders are so entrenched it will NEVER happen. The bible says that we should come out from among them, for what have the righteous to do with the unrigheous? true believers in Jesus Christ should seperate themselves, but most are trapped by the structure of the RCC, and the pomp and circumstance of the modern church. Kindest regards
I hope Mollie Wilson O'Reilly, editor of http://www.commonwealmagazine.org/blog/ doesn't start mocking Sinead again.
I agree with what Sinead O'Connor has said in part. except for the staying with the RCC. It is tainted beyond belief and can never be rehabilatated . The Faith is what we have, not an institution that has committed THESE HIDEOUS CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY. THE RCC NEEDS TO BE TRIED IN A WORLD COURT, AS BILLIONS OF PEOPLE. OVER THE AGES HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY THEM. THE RCC NEEDS TO DIE! NOT OUR FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. IT WILL NEVER DIE. THERE IS NO WAY YOU, OR ANYONE ELSE, CAN HOLD THE HOLY SPIRIT HOSTAGE..THE CHURCH DIDN'T HAVE THE SPIRIT OR THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED.
