I hear you Pittsburghkid,it sounds like you've had a tough experience, like many descendants of Irish immigrants. we all need to be more supportive of each other. We're not guilty. We aren't accountable for actions taken by people who lived at another time in history. We are responsible for the actions we take now. Don't fall victim to the divide and conquer politics that want to keep you focused on another group of people, for whatever reason. It is by protecting other people's rights that we protect our own. I'm mostly Irish, too. You do have community.
Interesting concept: an Irish Community. Although I'm mostly Irish and a few other nationalities, I am an American. When I apply for a job, I have to make a choice of White, Black,or Hispanic. White is what I must chose. Now their is a Black Community, Hillary goes there to court votes, and there is an Hispanic Community, Obama goes there to court votes. No politician ever visits the White community, although the media has teachable moments. These teachable moments are only for the White Community, in order to invoke White Guilt. White Guilt is the orginal sin of Whites. Every White person has it, because of their ancestors were slaveholders. I have white guilt, eventhough many of my ancestor died in famine of '47. If I do not accept white guilt, then I'm a racist. White guilt intitles me to employment discrimination through Affirmative Action. You never hear about that in our American Movies. I'm an American without a community. I hope that I've given you some insite into the lives of Americans of Irish decent.
