@Towngate - and getting back to my original comment to you - we have the right to differences of opinion but people who supported this president who are NOT happy with things as they are, are still not on the web bashing him and making shite up. Your "condescending" remark had all the tone, twisting of fact and lack of substance of a tbagger, not just a person who differs on policy.

@towngate rational people who voted for this president did not worship him or think he would be a dictator capable of changing every turd left by Bush into a flower. We also know he has been fought on every issue by the GOP... yet was able to accomplish some big changes in spite of that. His policies pulled us back from the brink of a second Great Depression, he was able to open the door for the first healthcare reform in this country since LBJ signed the Medicare Bill. Obama and the Democrats in Congress, with ZERO help from the GOP saved the US Auto Industry. Obama was able to sign legislation that turned back the appalling Bush carte blanche giveaways to the credit card companies and the attempt to screw students through their student loans. President Obama promised to focus on finding and killing Osama Bin Laden, which he did. Congress controls the money so he was not able to close Guantanamo because the funds were denied, but he signed the bill declaring that the US does not torture. He drastically reduced the troops in Iraq and ended that war for the most part and has already stated his plans to start reducing troops in Afghanistan which will be even easier to do now that he took out Bin Laden. You're high hopes must have been based upon fantasy if you're so disappointed because most Americans understand the system enough to know that he has done quite a bit under terrible circumstances.

Ah,deburka, you are miles out! Here in Ireland we say 'as far out as Lucan' - a country town outside the Capital.Or 'barking up the wrong tree'. You assume because I am critical that I disapprove. Not so. I am merely expressing my opinion - not stating a fact! All my family and friends who live in the US were as excited as I was when this President was elected because of his Party Philosophy and his wonderful promises. It is not correct or mannerly for you to decry my oponion as bitter sour grapes when we are heartbroken that someone we placed our faith and trust in, has turned out to be an empty shell acting as a pupper for the overlords in America who wield the real power.Broken promised on the THREE escalated illegal, unjust and obscene 'peace wars' economy,Guantanimo Torture Centre, the de-stabilisation of the Middle East
under the pretence of 'bringing Democracy' and his thinly veiled hatred of Britain and mainland Europe. No,deburka, not sour grapes at all - just an honest expression of deep and bitter disappointment after all Obama's fine election promises. Our high hopes for this man and the dreams we had have been shattered.

@Towngate YOU are a tbagger - and a very bitter person who is going to have that bitter taste of sour grapes in your mouth for another 5 1/2 years. That kind of nasty hatred for the leader of your country doesn't make you a very good American. It's one thing to disagree with issues, but quite another to just say nasty put-downs and look for failure in every success of our President because THAT is hoping for failure for your own country. Grow up and deal with the system we have. If you have a better candidate then focus your energy on working for that person, not attacking the sitting President of the United States for stupid things like picking up a soother.

deburka: My luck is just fine, thank you. He is not my president and neither is Palin any part of my life either. I don't even know (or care) what a 'tbagger' is! My comment was confined to the baby-naming story above as invited to by this site and not used for personal attacks on fellow Commenters who do not happen to share my view!
Read it again, properly, and you will see I wrote that telling the mother to wash the dummy after it had fallen on the ground was condescending; which it was; because he assumed this young mother from this little Irish backwater village would not have known to do that! His 'intellect, intelligence and foresight' deserted him ~ but then, he had been drinking!

@Towngate, it must be AWFUL to know our president is so awesome and you tbaggers have Palin running for you in the next election. That sort of bad luck makes a person say silly things like the president was "condescending" when he handed back the soother. Must be awful to be chewing on sour grapes for the past 2 1/2 years and be thinking about chewing on them until 2016!

There are many names for the object he picked up and condescendingly told the Irish mother to wash - surely his hands wouldn't have been that dirty - 'Soother', yes, and also 'Dummy' and 'Pacifier'. I will leave it up to you as to which one you think would be the most suitable reminder of the visit to Moneygall.

The problem with these American Presidential haters, is that they lack the same intellect as their President, and are challenged/threatened by his intelligence and foresight - shame on these dumb-butts for being like that.

The haters post on every page. What a pack of whinny nimwads. Sweet Jesus H. are ya all chronically constipated? You can't even let a baby be christened without a bitter comment.

Our plan to keep Obama here was foiled by the Icelandic volcano and his premature departure.
