Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny will visit several U.S. cities for St. Patrick’s celebrations, culminating with a meeting with President Obama at the White House on Tuesday, March 19. The Obamas will also host their annual St. Patrick’s reception in the White House that evening in honor of Kenny and his wife Fionnula.

Kenny is due to arrive in the U.S. on March 15. On the morning of the 16th he will attend the annual St. Patrick’s breakfast hosted by Mayor Michael Bloomberg at Gracie Mansion, where he will speak about The Gathering 2013 tourism initiative and encourage greater U.S. investment in Ireland.

Kenny will then attend Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and the breakfast co-hosted by New York Governor Mario Cuomo and the Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the U.S.

Kenny also plans to meet with members of the local Irish community groups that organized the successful Irish Days of Action in the Rockaways after Hurricane Sandy.  On Sunday morning, he will head to the Breezy Point section of the Rockaways where he will attend Mass and meet with local community organizers.

Kenny’s U.S. itinerary also includes a stop on the West Coast, where he will meet Irish companies based in Silicon Valley.

In addition to inviting the Free State Taoiseach to the White House, it would be eqully appropriate fot the President to invite a leading member of NYC's United Irish Counties, because this organization truly reprenemts ALL of New York's Irish Immigrant community, including those of us who have HONORABLY served in the defence forces of this great nation, to which we are totally loyal. Go mbeannai Dia na Stáit Aontaighte agus go sabháile Dia náisiún uile na hÉireann.
While we have the utmost respect for Seanmor's experience and can understand his point of view, we must say that as Americans we think Enda is an excellent representative of Ireland. Kenny comes across as handsome, polished, erudite, knowledgeable, all the attributes esposed by Hollywood as belonging to the English. The Irish are portrayed as a bunch of slovenly drunks, and yet the handsome, polite, well dressed Kenny contradicts that image. So much in today's world is image, and Cowan was picked out on a late night USA show as a bartender and not the Irish Prime Minister. We must say we can see how that happened. It is superfluous and shallow, but that is how it is and maybe has always been. We wish Kenny and Ireland the best of luck. For such a tiny island they have contributed so much to the world.
Seanmor, with due respect to your service for the USMC, from one who hopes for a peaceful United Ireland, I still welcome Taoiseach Enda Kenny's visit. It is a special year, as you know, President John Kennedy's 50 year anniversary of his visit to Ireland. Besides, Enda Kenny has taken some courageous actions, already. He is an extremely capable leader. I respect him. How many other government leaders can you say that about?
It should be made known to all that the state which Kenny represents has done very little for him to deserve this honor. It is the emigrants from Ireland -that WHOLE country- who have put Ireland on the map by their many contribtions to the U.S. for over 2 centuries. As a London-born naturalize citizen who HONORABLY served 4 years in the Marine Corps while still an Irish citizen, I totally REJECT Kenny's Partitionist policies.
For more than a century Breezy Point was a well-kept secret and . . . what . . . with a tornado, Sandy and a beached whale . . . we've been discovered . . . .
