Ratslayer, this is about race. If this man's attacker is white then this attack is a rarity in the Bronx. I was raised in the Bronx and Manhattan. I lived through the terrible changes there and the people who helped destroy great neighborhoods weren't white. That is the truth and a fact if you call it racist so be it. Where do you live?

First all, don't make this about race. Some of you just can't help yerselves, His attacker was White -- probably someone from within the Irish community of Woodlawn/Southeast Yonkers. All the best to Paul and I hope they catch the bastard soon.

Very disturbing that nothing can be done to stop this kind of violence. I hope this man makes a complete recovery. It's so shocking to read about the inhumanity of people that would attack someone so hideously.

I won't go back to visit Fordham road where I raised my children until I had to leave because all of a sudden crime started to appear in our neighborhoods where when I tell you we didn't even lock our doors until the 70's you might not believe that but it's true. It was a beautiful place with every store you could imagine, parks ,transportation, the Art Deco bldgs. on the Concourse. All destroyed now by people that have no pride in where they live. I don't want to hear well they are poor! Oh yeah none of were rich but no way would we destroy where we lived. I pray the Man will recover and sadly never again walk the Bronx late at night. Disgusted.

There are very few areas in the Bronx that are still safe and decent.Ultra-liberal treatment of hardened criminals, failure to secure our borders and rampant abortion which cheapens the value of all human life have made our beloved Bronx a chancey proposition day or night. When you look to the future, pray the rosary.

New York is a terribly dangerous place. However, because of the terrorism scare and the large numbers of police watching the subways, that has become a lot more safe.

That's why my GGGrandfather left Graham Avenue in Brooklyn for Pittsburgh in 1865---he could see the neighborhood was going!
