Quarterbacks Eli Manning of the New York Giants and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots will meet for the second time in four years at Super Bowl XLVI on February 5th in Indianapolis.

What will happen this year at the second Manning - Brady showdown within only four years? Analyses and predictions are flying.

“The 2007 Giants were the exact same as this year’s Giants. A good team in the regular season, if that, but hardly the best team in the league,” said Bryan Swartz in a blog. Still, they’re headed for the Super Bowl yet again.

Despite a relatively poor regular season record of 9 and 7 this year, Big Blue shouldn’t be counted out just yet, says Joshua Greenberg for The Daily Nexus. “Truthfully, the Giants are probably the team best equipped to take advantage of the holes in the Patriots’ defense, which is still their weakness.”

Super Bowl Giants Vs Patriots sets Irish hearts racing

_______________

The Giants secured their bid for Super Bowl XLVI when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers in overtime on Sunday at Candlestick Park. However, Greenberg writes that the Giants didn’t so much win the game, but rather the 49ers lost it.

Brian Tracy of The Washington Post says that there’s no way to succinctly compare Brady and Manning; both football stars have their strengths and weaknesses.

So who do the IrishCentral readers see as top dog - Brady or Manning?

And most importantly who’s going to win big at the Super Bowl?

Neither Brady, Eli or any QB can win the big one without somebody playing defense. Four years ago, the Patriots scored what should have been the winning TD. But unlike previous Super Bowls, the defense didn't come through when it mattered most. The Giants offense surprised some folks in that game. This time, Eli and his guys are much better and the defense is at least as good as when sack master Michael Strahan played. Brady gets most of the accolades, and that's OK. Eli, on the other hand, won't get that level of respect until he wins another Super Bowl. What better way for him to cement his reputation that to deliver another championship performance while leading his team to victory? Brady is arguably the best QB in the league. But when that pressure comes, none of that matters. Pressure, the old adage goes, will cause a pipe to burst. That same adage applies to quarterbacks ... all quarterbacks.
The Patriots should win, based on the matchup, but to quote the old saying, "On any given Sunday . . ."
Giants win the game, but the Pats beat the spread. Re-run of the Steeler Cowboy Super Bowl 1978
As stated earlier Pats win this one, then two-three years down the line ,they meet again for the rubber match-fixed?????
