Congratulations Joe --we never met but your wife was a cousin of my father's Jim Lyons from Buffalo, NY -I know you met Kevin and my wife met you at a feis at Tarrytown -small world --all the best. Patrick Lyons
Nice story but I'm confused by the dates in the following sentence - His parents lived in the U.S. from 1989 to 1902 before returning to Ireland.
"He is still driving his car. He has been known on occasion, mainly when there are events on at the Irish Consulate in Manhattan, to drive himself" Thanks for the warning, keep a sharp lookout when driving in Yonkers or the City.
You go Joe,Happy Birthday,have a hundred more!
La breithe an mhaith agat, a Seosamh/Happy birthday to ya, Joe! More power to yer elbow. Still pullin' da divil be the tail, I see. Wow, the big three digit birthday. Awesome, dude! Your second Hawaii 50. Yes indeedee. Positivity is indispensable. Some posters on this site could take a leaft out of his book. I'm sure Crusheen, County Clare hasn't changed much since he left. Has he ever been back? Now, wouldn't that be a lovely gift from IrishCentral/AerLingus/Maldron. Here's to your 200th., Joe!
GOD bless you both Joe and Rose Cunningham ,,a great feel good story and of course HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE,
Happy Bday Joe & may God continue to bless you!!!
This is the stuff that makes me feel good. Thanks for a wonderful story and Happy Birthday Joe.
Can't be that Irish considering his surname is Scottish...
Great story April on one of the great characters in New York. My own Clare-born mother was born the same year and emigrated to New York the same year as Joe. Sadly she passed on five years ago at 95 but left her own legacy and large family.
God Bless this man ..
