I thought that the Irish famine came because the darn Brits exported most of the food out of Ireland & left nothing for the poor folks to eat, plus the fact of the blight on the potatoes made it even worse.

i recently read a book called "The Great Hunger" by Cecil Woodham Smith. its quite graphic and detailed. its really a book that should read.

McNamara31..Won't be done. When you had hundreds of starving families kneeling on the grounds outside landlords big houses waiting for them while they finished stuffing their faces with food. It makes the brits look real bad.

There has never been a film made that depicts the suffering of the Irish during the famine. It would be a wonderful effort if all the great Irish actors, writers and directors would come together to finally document in film the true story of the famine.
